About
EngineWorks, Inc. has created this site as an advocacy destination for Laissez-faire capitalism, individual rights, individual freedom, and individual responsibility.
As an American corporation, we make no apologies for our rational pursuit of profit. On the contrary, we recognize the life-sustaining benefits our efforts bring to our team members, our vendors, our clients, and our society.
To quote the twentieth-century author and philosopher Ayn Rand, “In order to sustain its life, every living species has to follow a certain course of action required by its nature. The action required to sustain human life is primarily intellectual: everything man needs has to be discovered in his mind and produced by his effort. Production is the application of reason to the problem of survival.”
“Since knowledge, thinking, and rational action are properties of the individual, since the choice to exercise his rational faculty or not depends on the individual,” Ayn Rand continues, “man’s survival requires that those who think be free of interference of those who don’t. Since men are neither omniscient nor fallible, they must be free to agree or disagree, to cooperate or to pursue their own independent course, each according to his own rational judgment. Freedom is the fundamental requirement of man’s mind.”
Capitalism is the only social system based upon this fundamental requirement. And, thus the only moral one in the history of civilization.
A social system can only be moral if it aligns with two primary principles, individual rights, and the prohibition of physical force from human relationships. The basic question becomes: Is man free? In a Laissez-faire capitalistic social system, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”.
Capitalism is the engine that works. No other system of society has done more to elevate standards of living, eradicate plagues and disease, eliminate poverty, defeat tyranny, and contribute to human happiness.
